Trip To Ireland Planning [Summer 2007] - Itinerary

A group of high school age female players from southeast Wisconsin will be heading to Ireland during the summer of 2007 to enjoy the emerald isle and play several matches against teams from the Irish women's league.     Day One: Thursday June 21
  • Depart from Chicago O'Hare
  • Check In
  • Duty-free stores
  • Board airplane at 4:30 p.m. (Aer Lingus - The Irish Airline)
  • On Flight: 2 movies; 2 meals; unlimited coffee, tea, soda and juice
  • Arrive in Dublin, Ireland at 6:00 a.m. [Friday June 22]

    Day Two: Friday June 22
  • Arrive at Dublin airport at 6:00 a.m. Go through customs, baggage claim.
  • Drive from Dublin through Swords, Drogheda, Dundalk, Newry, Banbridge, Lisburn, Belfast and Antrim.
  • Arrive at Antrium which is located on a river and is known for its castles.
  • Check into B & B Glenn-More & Brekenridge
  • Head to downtown for lunch at local fish & chips shop
  • 7:00 p.m. - Football at the Antrim forum - artificial turf training grounds; 5 v 5 games in the Kickabout Cage.
  • Evening out for dinner and river walk about town.

    Day Three: Saturday June 23
  • 8:00 - 8:45 a.m. - Awaken
  • "Ulster Fry" Breakfast at B & B. The "Ulster Fry" is a famous Northern Ireland breakfast consisting of sausages, blood pudding, eggs, tomatoes, beans, soda bread and potato bread, All you can eat. Also there are unlimited cereals, many choices, as well as juices, coffees and teas.
  • Walk to downtown for a look around the town.
  • In the afternoon we will have a soccer match against the Under 19 Northern Ireland National Team to be in the Capitol City, Belfast. After the match; dinner and some shopping at the Junction One shopping center.
  • Head back to the B & B at the Glen-More in Antrim.

    Day Four: Sunday June 24
  • 8:00 - 8:45 a.m. - Awaken and Ulster Fry
  • We will head to Newton Abbey area in the morning an area outside of Belfast. Then in the afternoon we play Newton Abbey Strikers from the Northern Ireland Women's Football League. Perhaps the most dominate team during the past few years.
  • Head back to the Bed And Breakfast after the match.
  • Some afternoon sightseeing, Carrick Fergus Castle, dinner then back to the Glen-More Bed and Breakfast.

    Day Five: Monday June 25
  • 8:00 - 9:30 a.m. - Awaken and eat breakfast.
  • 10:00 - Leave the Glen-More and drive up the Antrim Coast Road through the towns of Larne, Glenarm, Cushendum, and Cushendahl. We then head to our next port of call, the fishing village of Portstewart.
  • Check into the 'Anchor Inn' Bed & Breakfast, located on the ocean.
  • After checking in, we get ready to leave for Bellamena where we will play Bellamena Football Club in a night match. Bellamena is the home of Liam Neeson, a famous Irish Actor.
  • Football match under the lights.
  • Head back to Portstewart.

    Day Six : Tuesday June 26
  • 8:00 - 10:00 a.m. - Awaken and eat breakfast.
  • This day is set aside for touring: Dunluce Castle, Bushmills tour, Giants Causeway, Port Rush, Coleraine City Center. The entire day will be sight-seeing major camera day all along the seaside.
  • Back to the Anchor Inn in the evening.

    Day Seven : Wednesday June 27
  • 8:00 - 10:00 a.m. - Awaken and eat breakfast.
  • Tour and walk through local castles and mountains. Relaxing day in fishing towns.
  • 7:00 p.m. football match at the University of Coleraine against the Coleraine Women's Football Club.
  • Back to the Anchor Inn in the evening.

    Day Eight : Thursday June 28
  • 8:00 - 10:00 a.m. - Awaken and eat breakfast.
  • Leave Northern Ireland for the South of Ireland.
  • Drive to Dublin. Visit downtown; take the Guiness Tour; shop at city center; sight-seeing.
  • Check in at the Bedd and Breakfast in Dublin. Contact name for the Bed and Breakfast for Dublin in Feb.

    Day Nine : Friday June 29
  • 8:00 - 10:00 a.m. - Awaken and eat breakfast.
  • Entire day set aside for sight-seeing in and around Dublin.

    Day Ten : Satuday June 30
  • 7:00 08:00 a.m. - Awaken and eat breakfast.
  • Head to airport for flight home from Dublin to Chicago Plane leaves at Noon - arrives in Chicago at 2:10 p.m. (Aer Lingus)
