News Event: Conditioning Camp - Summer 2006

Description: A soccer-oriented conditioning camp designed for male high school and advanced junior high school players ages 13 - 18. The sessions emphasize strength and speed development along with soccer skill development. The camp is conducted from Sunday, August 6 through Thursday August 10. The Sunday session is scheduled for 10:00 am - 1:00 pm; the weekday sessions are scheduled for 5:30 - 8:00 pm. All sessions are held at Gifford School, Franksville WI.

Advanced registration/payment, which is available from this web-site, is $80. If you wait to register on-site (30 minutes before the beginning of the first session), the registration fee is $90. Please note that enrollment is limited.

Camp Overview

The sessions, which are directed by Issy Martinez, head coach of several high school age Club teams, are designed to challenge players serious about taking their play to the next level. Camp sessions are designed around strength/agility - oriented training circuits that incorporate the use of plyometric boxes, hurdles, speed ladders and other methods designed to present players with a broad range of challenges.

Camp Objectives

The camp emphasizes the development of strength, speed and agility by participating in drills/exercises and training circuits designed to work specific muscle groups. Soccer-oriented drills are introduced throughout the camp in order to provide participants with the opportunity guage the impact of these drills.

The following fitness-oriented goals have been identified:
- Improve Speed and Power
- Develop 'First Step' Quickness
- Improve footwork (speed/agility)
- Improve Core (abs) Strength / Overall Balance
- Enhance Lateral Movement
- Improve Change-Of-Direction Capabilities
- Improve Explosiveness (Jumping)

The following soccer-oriented skills will be addressed:
- Receiving
- Passing
- Dribbling
- Shooting
- Heading
- Tackling
